U.S. Presidential Scholars Announced for 2020

Education Secretary names 161 students.

Secretary Betsy DeVos recently recognized 161 high school students for accomplishments in the fields of academics, arts, and career and technical education. The 56th class of U.S. Presidential Scholars is made up of a young man and young woman from each state as well as from certain U.S. territories and U.S. families living abroad.

“It is my privilege to congratulate the Presidential Scholars Class of 2020 on their outstanding academic achievement, community service, and leadership,” Secretary DeVos said. “These exemplary young people have excelled inside the classroom and out. And, while they are facing unprecedented challenges as they graduate from high school into a world that looks much different than it did just a few months ago, their determination, resilience, and commitment to excellence will serve them well as they pursue their next steps.”

The U.S. Presidential Scholar program was created in 1964 and has honored more than 7,600 top-performing students in the country. This summer, the outstanding achievements of the 2020 class of scholars will be recognized as the public health circumstances allow.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For the Betsy DeVos as she leads the Department of Education.
  • For the governing bodies who determine the course of schools reopening this fall in the wake of the pandemic.
  • For this class of Presidential Scholars as they step into the future that has been impacted by the adversities of 2020.
